From rookery#5 and rookery#17. This waits until the 16 GB Mac mini is online.

Question

A build box is a hatchery service with a runner block, and hatchery box runner reads, checks and relabels one. Both boxes today were registered by hand and adopted later. The 16 GB mini is the first box that can join through hatchery from the start.

What the answer must settle:

  • the mini's mode, host or container, decided once it is online and its state can be read (ruled on 2026-09-25)
  • colima on this mini with the rosetta label, because an amd64 job needs a box that runs x86_64 under Rosetta. The 8 GB mini lost the label on 2026-09-25, because it has had no colima since 2026-09-08. The VM size is decided with the mode.
  • the enrolment: a preflight that checks what the mode needs and refuses with the missing pieces and their recipes, a registration token hatchery makes itself, the runner config and its launchd job, the declaration written and published, and a probe job that must land and pass before the box counts as in service
  • the mini's own stack in infra-state, with its host and settings.platform: darwin

Done when

The 16 GB mini shows on the rookery Builds tab as a build box that hatchery enrolled, with the labels its declaration names, rosetta among them if colima runs there, and hatchery box runner --check passes on it.

This box is with Milo, on his network, in another state. How the estate reaches it, what it may hold, and how it enrols are charted on house#21, "The estate across sites", and that map rules first.
